Case Studies · Technology, Innovation & Startups

PR, media relations, thought leadership, and corporate communications for startups, scaleups, and tech companies

When it comes to innovation, many make announcements.
Only a few become media icons.

Seven case studies illustrate how we turn complex and innovative tech projects into news stories that newsrooms choose to publish: proprietary data, newsjacking (including regulatory newsjacking), corporate events, and ongoing relationships with the tech, business, and industry press.

01 · Background

An industry where technology is complex and constant media communication is needed to build and protect a company’s reputation

Every day, business and innovation newsrooms receive announcements about funding rounds, products, and partnerships (from startups, scaleups, and tech companies). Many of these announcements are similar, and many are simply promotional announcements. Very few—in fact, almost none—attempt to develop a PR strategy capable of building, strengthening, and protecting the company’s reputation.

That is why we are working on three parallel tracks: corporate communications, which brings the founder, key figures, and vision to the most influential media outlets, scenario content, based on proprietary data, regulations, and market trends, and a focus on C-Level Positioning. It is the intersection of these three elements that transforms communication into reputation-building.

[Disclosers is an independent PR, media relations, and influencer marketing boutique based in Milan, founded in 2018. We work across multiple sectors; in the innovation sector, we handle press office and corporate communications for startups, scaleups, and tech companies across various verticals—from healthtech to agritech, from SaaS to fintech—with projects such as Serenis, xFarm Technologies, Plug and Play Italy, Talent Garden, and UNGUESS.]

Corporate

Funding rounds, acquisitions, appointments, expansion: credibility with investors, enterprise customers, and top talent.

Scenario

Surveys, research, and regulatory newsjacking: the company becomes the source—not the subject—of the news.

Seven companies, Seven Different Strategies

No one-size-fits-all approach: the market, the company's stage of development, and its business objectives determine the nature of its relationship with the media.

Serenis: Bringing Mental Health to Mainstream Media and Business Sections

An accredited online medical center that needed both clinical credibility and business visibility. We built a continuous stream of original data (surveys conducted with BVA Doxa, the University of Padua, and Marketing Espresso) and used it as a tool for setting the agenda on issues related to psychological well-being.

In addition, thematic newsjacking on social trends, partnerships with Hays, MySecretCase, and FISH to explore new avenues, and interviews with the founders and the clinical team. The 2025 funding round alone generated over 40 releases in the business media.

xFarm: Telling the Story of a Platform Through the Eyes of Its Users

It’s difficult to explain business management software for farms and a network of sensors in a single article. We shifted the focus to use cases and key players in the supply chain (Barilla, Granarolo, CNH, John Deere), making the value of the technology tangible.

At the same time, Corporate Communications on Funding Rounds and Acquisitions (Greenfield, SpaceSense, Checkplant) and newsjacking on the water crisis, climate change, and the Green Deal to gain access to mainstream media.

03 Plug and Play Italy · Open Innovation

Plug and Play Italy: Communicating an Innovation Ecosystem to the Media

Startups, corporations, and institutions under a single media umbrella. The Discovery Tour at the Italy Summit brought journalists into the ecosystem to speak directly with founders and industry partners: an event-driven model that was later validated by concrete news hooks, from the partnership with Amplifon to the funding rounds for Pillar and Arsenale.

The media network operates on three levels—national, industry-specific, and local (in Milan, Turin, and Catania)—with a focus on strategic verticals: aerospace, defense, infrastructure, and energy.

04 UNGUESS · SaaS · crowdtesting

UNGUESS: Becoming a Leading Voice in Its Industry

Founded at the Politecnico di Milano, UNGUESS needed to be recognized not as a testing provider, but as an expert in user research, digital security, and accessibility. We alternated between corporate announcements (capital increases, the acquisition of the French company Ferpection, new appointments) and content related to regulations, ranging from the Accessibility Act to the NIS2 Directive.

Proprietary research on Black Friday, cybersecurity, and perceptions of AI in the workplace has helped maintain a consistent presence across online platforms, print media, and industry podcasts.

05 AccessiWay · Digital Accessibility

AccessiWay: A Regulatory Deadline Turned into a Media Opportunity

The entry into force of the European Accessibility Act was the only occasion on which the media would discuss digital accessibility. We prepared for it with a background report on the current state of affairs in Italy and the sectors lagging the most, followed by tailored pitches focusing on two areas: regulatory impact and accessibility as an HR lever.

An institutional event in Milan organized by the European Parliament Office and AGID, along with an official statement issued on the date the legislation took effect, brought the process to a close, with coverage in both the Italian press and international media.

Mamazen: Telling the Media About a Startup Studio, Not Its Individual Startups

A startup studio is a model that is little known to the Italian media: the risk is that every news story will be attributed to the portfolio companies and never to the organization that builds them. We’ve explored this model—how a company is founded, with what capital and with what people—using the startups’ results as evidence rather than as a headline.

A constant presence in the startup ecosystem and venture capital scene, comments from founders on finance and innovation, and an ongoing relationship with publications that cover the sector.

07 Pick-Roll · sports tech · community

Pick-Roll: A Basketball App Featured in Global Sports Media

A sports tech startup founded to connect basketball players on Italian playgrounds and beyond. The story began with a simple narrative angle: the Basketball Playtomic, and it has solidified its position through corporate announcements and appointments, which have given the company business legitimacy beyond its product.

Andrea Bargnani's involvement as a partner and brand ambassador was the turning point: it opened the doors to the international sports media, while the Streetball Summit Milano alone generated 20 articles, 8 of which were Tier 1.

03 · The Method

How We Work with a Tech Company

These are six levers that we combine in varying proportions depending on the market, the company's maturity, and the current business climate.

01

Proprietary Data

Surveys and research conducted in collaboration with research institutes and universities: previously unpublished data that sets the agenda rather than following it.

02

Newsjacking (including regulatory)

Guidelines, deadlines, and policies as a gateway to editorial content: technology explained through a current event.

03

Corporate Highlights

Fundraising rounds, acquisitions, and appointments are treated as general news items rather than self-promotional announcements.

04

Case Studies and Clients

Complex technologies become understandable through the people who adopt them and the results they achieve.

05

Events and Press Conferences

Discovery tours, institutional roundtables, and briefings: journalists get an inside look at the product and meet the founders.

06

Measurement

Volumes, Tier 1 ratio, and the quality of test results: let's examine the impact of PR on reputation and the pipeline.

04 · Where We Left Off

Media coverage that matters in the world of innovation

The 24 Hour SunEvening CourierThe RepublicForbesMilan FinanceWiredSky TG24AnsaReutersThe PostStartupItaliaEconomyUpItaly TodayPanoramaRai Radio 1Engage

The foundation of the coverage consists of industry publications, B2B verticals, and new media: it ensures volume and continuity.

The core consists of mainstream business and general-interest media outlets (Il Sole 24 Ore, Corriere, Forbes) that lend the company credibility among investors and enterprise clients.

Together, they build a well-proportioned pyramid: it is this shape—not the individual stroke—that builds their reputation.

05 · Let's Work Together

A reputation isn't built solely on A round's press release

We don’t settle for one-off communications: we build authentic relationships with the media through PR strategies that deliver measurable results. Tell us about your market, business goals, and roadmap—and we’ll show you how we’d apply our approach.
